RSE Policy and Curriculum Consultation
Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) Consultation
From September 2020 (moved back to the summer term 2021 due to COVID 19) it is a statutory requirement that all schools in England and Wales are teaching relationships and sex education as a fundamental part of the curriculum.
The guidance focuses on healthy relationships and keeping children safe in the modern world. It also covers a wide range of topics relating to physical and mental health, wellbeing, safeguarding and healthy relationships. Learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up aims to give children and young people the information, skills and positive values to have safe, fulfilling relationships and help them take responsibility for their own well-being.
As part of implementing the RSE curriculum, schools were required to consult with the children, parents, staff and governors to ensure that there was a general consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content.
Wraxall Primary School consulted with parents from Friday 15th January until the end of Friday 29th January 2021.
As part of this parents, staff and governors were invited to read through the following document and provide feedback on them. The document was: Jigsaw PHSE Policy including Relationships Education, Sex Education and Health Education.
These documents are available to read on the school website or you can ask for a printed copy from the school office.
There was a Teams meeting during the term to outline key changes and curricular content for different year groups.
